Comax Finance Director, Mr. Arnold M. Smith is part of the 13-man delegation from the Liberia Chess Federation (LCF) currently in India representing Liberia at the 44th World Chess Olympiad in India. The tournament takes place from July 28 to August 10, 2022, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu region located on the Southeastern coast of India.
Currently, Mr. Smith ranks No. 1 in Liberia, on the FIDE Country Ratings and was in the top 5 from the LCF Qualifier for the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2022. This tournament decided the team to represent the Republic of Liberia at this year’s FIDE chess Olympiad.
FIDE is the French acronym commonly used to refer to the International Chess Federation of World Chess Federation. FIDE is an international organization based in Switzerland that connects the various national chess federations and acts as the governing body of international chess competitions. With 195 member federations, FIDE is among the biggest sports organizations in the world, very proud of over forty official championships for youngsters, men, women, and seniors. The Liberia Chess Federation is an active member of FIDE.
